Providing high-quality content starts with a high-quality idea. While it might sometimes feel like you’ve given your audience to all the questions they could have, you need to start thinking ahead of their questions and anticipate their needs.
Making your blog a ‘go-to’ for other eCommerce partners is also great for developing brand awareness. Sharing your knowledge and gifting great ideas places your business as a valuable and respected asset online. If industry professionals are looking to you for those regular, well researched and well-written blogs to reference in their next TED talk, you just created brand awareness that money cannot buy.
So how do you know what people want to read?
The basic answer is found in journalism 101: who, what, when, where, why. These five w’s should inform the base of any informative writing you share.
Next, analyse your data.
- What question is most asked in your industry?
- What is the most ‘googled’ question in your industry?
- What is trending on Twitter that relates to your products or services?
Start answering these questions.
Providing white papers and reports or even interviews is very interesting for B2B owners. If you are willing to share your experience and help others who are learning about the industry, you can develop a strong following of entrepreneurs who will see you as an authority, which again, boosts your brand profile.
And the easiest thing you can do, scroll through blogs that you enjoy and start reading. Be inspired by what your peers are talking about.
Remember, it’s ok to be off-topic, out of the industry and hanging over in left field once in a while; as long as your writing is interesting, entertaining and informative. If your B2B produces marine glue it’s ok if, as a special treat to yourself, you want to write about hanging holiday decorations using a household glue and turning the story into a mini-drama. Each of your readers is human too, and at the end of the year, some people want to relax a little while they count the minutes until their holidays.
